Our Honorary Judges award this year went to Nick Rogers and his beautiful, customized, 1951 Mercury. This is the criteria for choosing the award: Our Honorary Judges are asked to select a car of particularly noteworthy engineering advances and artistic merit. Not bound by the more rigid rules of Class judging, the judges are free to use completely subjective criteria to select a car with the right stuff. Congratulations Nick! A really cool car! My choice for the Chairman’s Award this year was a complete 180 from last year’s choice of an American Classic, a 1937 Cord. This year, American Muscle. A 1970 Chevelle SS454 LS-5. I was 11 years old when this car was introduced, and I wanted one then. 48 years later, I still want one! Thanks to Dan Bishop for bringing this beautiful car up from southern California.
