The last act of our show every year is when we deliver checks to the three local charities that we partner with. When you buy a ticket to the San Marino Motor Classic, you’re supporting the following organizations: Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA, The Spirit of Troy and Rotary Club of San Marino. So to all those who have supported and attended SMMC, thank you 😃 #SMMC #CarShow #AGoodCause … See MoreSee Less

Exclusive Show Preview – Coming to SMMC 2018The 1927 Lancia Lambda “Airway” Concept The sales brochure read, “The car that’s as smooth and speedy as a giant aeroplane, as handy and responsive as the Schneider Cup Winner. The new Lancia Airway Saloon!” The Lancia Lambda was a revolutionary car, pioneering features like independent suspension, shock absorbers and four-wheel brakes. There were 9 evolutions of the Lambda, each improving on the last and by the seventh series, produced from 1926 to 1928, the Lambda was sporting a 2370 cc engine producing 59 horsepower. This Lambda is no ordinary example of the series 7 though, it is an entirely unique creation with a body crafted by Albany Motor Works of England when the car was brand new. Known as the “Airway” it was one of the first of many automobiles to take advantage of the fervor for flight in the 1920s, borrowing many styling cues from the aviation industry and applying them to their cars. The 1927 Lancia Lambda “Airflow” will be on display at the San Marino Motor Classic on Sunday, June 10th.The Airflow made its debut at the 1927 Olympia Motor Show, available for the whopping sum of £945. “The air liner on land,” said the sales brochure. “The car that’s as smooth and speedy as a giant aeroplane, as handy and responsive as the Schneider Cup Winner. The new Lancia Airway Saloon!” For one Australian this is all it took to convince him to purchase the Airway, which he then had shipped to the land Down Under in 1928. It spent the next six decades in Australia having been well loved to the point of disrepair. In the 1990s the Byrd family purchased the Airflow and brought it back to life, restoring it to as-new condition while retaining all of its major original components. Among its unique features are an air-speed indicator rather than the usual speedometer, an altimeter and a spotlight on the roof. The exterior of the car also has some unique features including fabric rapped over a wood frame, a common weight saving technique in early airplanes. The Lambda Airway will be on display in Class 4 which features CCCA European Closed automobiles. It comes with an illustrious history of shows on its resume including an appearance at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the Lancia Continental and the Arts Center Innovation Car Show where it won a Design Excellence award. … See MoreSee Less
