From time to time I like to include different types of event coverage on this page. When it comes down to it, car guys are just like motorcycle guys who are just like truck guys and in this case, just like tractor guys.Below is coverage of the Maryland Two Cylinder Tractor Club’s pull held at Gladhill Tractors in Frederick Maryland. The weather held out just long enough to allow for just about everyone to get a pull or two in. The crew worked real hard to prepare the course which ended up drying out just a bit.I had a great time talking with the various drivers. For some its a real family affair with 3 generations working the tractors. And make no mistake, this is not done for money. These guys work hard on their rigs just for the pure joy of taking a 70 year old tractor down the track attached to a 30,000 pound sled. Pretty impressive. The next pull at Gladhills is the Central Maryland Antique Tractor Club on June 8th and 9th. IMHO, these are fun events to take the family to. They are free, there is inexpensive food available and fun stuff to see. For my car and bike buddies, its all the same thing, big motors, helping each other out and bragging rights.Much appreciation to Gladhills for putting on this weekend’s events. They put a lot of resources into the effort and its a fun place for good family fun (and maybe look at a nice tractor for the home front as well.)Below are the upcoming events.May 19-20Johnsville Ruritan Show, Johnsville, MD10:00 AMJune 2-3Green Manor Farm Antique Tractor ShowCharlotte Hall, MDJune 8-9-10CMATC Gas Engine & Tractor Show, Gladhill Tractor10:00 AMFrederick, MD Lawn & Garden Pull Sunday11:00 AMJune 13-16 Red Power Round Up, Montgomery, ALJune 22-24IHCC Ch. 41 Harrisonburg, VAJune 22-2434th Annual Latimore Valley Fair, York Springs, PAJune 23-24 Howard County Living Farm Heritage MuseumWest Friendship, MD June 30York Adams 2 Cylinder Club Littlestown, PAJuly 5-8 Tuckahoe Steam & Gas Show Easton, MD July 21Walkersville Antique Tractor Pull Walkersville, MD9:00 AM July 22Walkersville Farm Stock Pull, Walkersville, MD10:00 AMJuly 27-29Shenandoah Valley Steam & Gas ShowBerryville, VA July 28 – Aug. 3 Carroll County Fair, Westminster, MD8:00 AMAug. 4 -5MDIHCC 39 Threshing Days/Frederick County FarmMuseum at Rose Hill Manor , Frederick, MDAug. 4-11Howard Co. This car just falls out of our categories I think. Would probably make an exception to get it on our field. What a glorious sound.

I usually only utilize my own photos on my Facebook posts. However, I met Isaac Zimmerman, a student from Allentown, down at the Mall early Saturday morning, when I went to cover the HVA Cars and Coffee celebrating the appearance of the Bullet Mustang in their presentation box right on the Mall.Matt volunteers with the HVA up in Allentown and was invited to assist in covering the proceedings. He was very excited to come down with his dad and had the chance to photograph the Bullet at night. These photos were too good not to share.Matt’s photography teacher should be giving him an A based on these images. It was great to meet you Isaac and thank you for sharing these great images. … See MoreSee Less

I rolled out of Damascus around 5 am to run downtown to visit the HVA’s first cars and coffee held on the Mall. The HVA.org has been fighting for increased visibility for our shared interest of cars. The month of April has brought a continual display of an important historical vehicles. Till Tuesday morning you’ll find Steve McQueen’s Bullet Mustang on display. I’d really like to photograph this display at night with the car illuminated and the capital dome behind it. If anyone gets the chance to do this before Tuesday, please post up a photo here.Yesterday morning when I was about to leave, I ran into a fella emerging from his Grand Marquis. I had one for years and it saved my daughter and my life so I struck up a conversation. It turns out he left Secaucas New Jersey after finishing work at 2am. He drove thru the night to witness the Bullet on the mall. That is an example of the passion that I think many of us "car guys and gals" share in regards to automobiles. And that passion is what the HVA is fighting for. There are all sorts of kooky laws and amendments that our politicians throw at the wall to see what sticks. We need organizations like the HVA and SEMA to track these issues and promote our interests.here is the HVA link: www.historicvehicle.org/2018-cars-at-the-capital/here is a story on the re-discovery of the Bullet. check out the story here www.historicvehicle.org/tag/bullitt-mustang/Image may contain: sky, car, cloud and outdoor … See MoreSee Less
