Just how does one put the finishing touches on a rare 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC “Atalante” Coupe (valued at more than $10 million) prior to judging at a prestigious concours d’elegance?

Evidently with fearless, deft, loving caresses. When this video was made in 2015 at the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance in Lexington, KY, the car had recently won the Meguiar’s Award – for the Car with the Most Outstanding Finish – at the 2015 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. The previous summer, it was recognized as the Most Elegant Closed Car at the Pebble Beach Concours, where in an earlier life, it won 1976 Best of Show.

This immaculate black beauty went on to win Best of Show that day in Kentucky. Eight days later, it was judged Best of Show – European at the Concours d’Elegance of America at St. John’s, near Detroit.

In the video below from the St. John’s event, automotive historian Keith Martin and classic car expert Bob Joynt describe what makes this “Atalante” coupe such a special vehicle.

With or without dust or fingerprints, it’s a truly remarkable car. What I found surprising was the upholstery …. watch the top video again and you’ll notice that the front seats are plain, without pleats or pattern.
