MYSTERY MONDAYCan you guess the make, model and year of our mystery car? July 29th’s answer: Weidner Condor- 1959The Condor was presented to the public at the 1957 Geneva Auto Show. It was built by farm equipment manufacturers Fritz and Reinhold Weidner. It has a three cylinder, two-stroke, water cooled Heinkel engine. The public admired the streamline design and technical conception, but the selling price was too high when compared to its competitors – NSU Prinz or Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. This Weidner Condor is one of only two known to exist. It resides at the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, TN; it will be at the Atlanta Concours d’Elegance September 30 at Chateau Elan. #motovatonmondayThis weeks’s clue: Name the car make and model, the driver and just exactly what were they doing in the middle of the desert?#ATLCONCOURS See MoreSee Less

MG EX 181, 1957

Phil Hill attempting Class E (up to 2ltr) land speed records in MG EX 181 1959 at Utah salt flats. Made 254mph with a 1506cc engine at 32psi boost for an impressive 295hp. Stirling Moss made 245mph for class F records in 1957 in the same car with a slightly smaller engine. The body design was reminiscent of Reid Railton’s prewar design for John Cobb, reduced in size. The engine was the basis for the MGA Twin Cam design.
